eXtensible Markup Language
General information on “XML”:
- Open-standard data format
- Primary meant for data serialization and presentation = machine-readable
- Elements:
- Less-/Greater-than sign < > specify the element name
- Text in between specifies the element value
- Multi-line notation is common
- Whitespace is not significant
